RESULTS OF THE CAKAO KOMSTRAT SURVEY OF SOUTH SULAWESI PROVINCE 2018

The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) in one of its duties and authorities provides data related to the agricultural sector through the implementation of various kinds of periodic surveys. The Agricultural Census is held every 10 (ten) years, the last one was held in 2013 (ST2013). ST2013 data collection is carried out completely and thoroughly (both activities and areas), in addition to photographing conditions in that year it is also used to build a sampling frame of all agricultural business households, including the plantation sub-sector. Plantation business changes very rapidly following technological developments, changing seasons and prices. Therefore, it is deemed necessary to conduct a Strategic Commodity Survey for Plantation (Komstrat Kebun), one of which is cocoa. The implementation of the Strategic Plantation Commodity Survey (Komstrat Kebun) for cocoa is an important part of the RPJMN in the plantation sub-sector. This activity is a continuation of the strategic commodity trial which was carried out in 2017. BPS conducted a Strategic Commodity Survey for Plantation (Komstrat Kebun) for the Implementation of Strategic Agricultural Commodity Data Collection through households in 2018 (VKAKAO2018) in order to complement the data generated from cocoa households, which so far BPS only produces data from state companies and private companies. This survey is expected to increase the effectiveness and efficiency in producing reliable, timely data according to the needs of data users and the government.
